Review: Need

Zara White suspects there’s a freaky guy semi-stalking her. She’s also obsessed with phobias. And it’s true, she hasn’t exactly been herself since her stepfather died. But exiling her to shivery Maine to live with her grandmother? That seems a bit extreme. The move is supposed to help her stay sane... but Zara’s pretty sure her mom just can’t deal with her right now.

She couldn’t be more wrong. Turns out the semi-stalker is not a figment of Zara’s overactive imagination. In fact, he’s still following her, leaving behind an eerie trail of gold dust. There’s something not right - not human - in this sleepy Maine town, and all signs point to Zara.

In this creepy, compelling breakout novel, Carrie Jones delivers romance, suspense and a creature you never thought you’d have to fear.

I picked this book up because the back stated that if you got Stephenie Myer and Stephen King together to write a novel, this would be it.
From the moment I started reading the first page, I got the Stephenie Meyer "Twilight" vibe - Zara's stepfather has died and her mother worries about her being depressed so she sends her to live with her grandmother in a small remote town in Maine (there's the Stephen King). When her car spins out of control (hello Edward), she's rescued by sexy Nick who turns out to be a werewolf. He, of course, isn't the only "paranormal" character in this town.

It's a true genre book and a fast read. Once I picked it up I didn't want to put it down - especially once I got into the middle when all the clues started coming together.

If you love the teen reads and the Stephenie Meyer-esque feel you should definitely try this one out.
Now that I have finished it, I am anxiously awaiting my trip to the bookstore to pick up the second in the series, "Captivate".
